Above: Journalist/author Allen Young talks about his own conversation with poet Allen Ginsberg after a presentation of "Allen Ginsberg's Howl, the Movie" starring James Franco in "the back corner" during our 4-Part Annual June Pride Series (2011). The visionary poem is considered to be one of the great works of the Beat Generation, and the controversy surrounding its alleged obscene content led to the arrest of the poem's domestic publisher. The highly publicized trial vindicated the publisher when the judge ruled that the poem was of "redeeming social importance."
